Take the blue COTRAL night buses
A lot of people have early morning flights from Rome’s Fiumicino airport and are forced to take a taxi which costs upwards of 70,000 Lire. An alternative, however does exist in the form of blue COTRAL night buses. These leave Tiburtina station four times a night at 0.30, 1.15, 2.30 and 3.45. For most travellers, Termini is a better option and these buses do transit Termini station, the stop is in front of the “Bar Day” on the corner of Via Cavour and Piazza dei Cinquecento ( the massive unmissable square on the north side of Termini station where all the orange ATAC buses leave from). The buses get to Termini about 5 minutes after they leave Tiburtina. Not many people know about this because Cotral?s marketing people are on permanent siesta. The cost is 7,000 Lire per person. There are also buses in the opposite direction.
